Los Tres Tenores

Los Tres Tenores o en inglés The Three Tenors; es el nombre de una serie de conciertos en colaboración de los tenores Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras y Plácido Domingo. El trío comenzó su actuación el 7 de julio de 1990 con un concierto brindado en las antiguas Termas de Caracalla, en Roma, con motivo del cierre de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 1990, con la participación de Zubin Mehta dirigiendo la Orquesta del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino y la Orquesta del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

La idea del concierto fue concebida por el productor y representante italiano Mario Dradi. El primer concierto fue realizado para recaudar fondos destinados a la fundación Carreras; también fue, para sus amigos Domingo y Pavarotti, una forma de dar la bienvenida a su amigo al mundo de la ópera después de su exitoso tratamiento de la leucemia.

Los tres continuaron cantando juntos en conciertos producidos por el húngaro Tibor Rudas y otros productores, en el Dodger Stadium de Los Ángeles para el partido final de la Copa del Mundo de la FIFA de 1994; en Champs de Mars, bajo la Torre Eiffel de París durante la Copa del Mundo de la FIFA 1998; y en Yokohama para la Copa del Mundo de la FIFA 2002. También cantaron en otras ciudades alrededor del mundo, generalmente presentándose en estadios u otros grandes espacios.

Los conciertos fueron un gran éxito comercial, y fueron acompañados por una serie de grabaciones altamente vendidas, incluyendo Carreras-Domingo-Pavarotti: Los Tres Tenores en Concierto (el cual ostenta el Récord Mundial Guiness para el disco de música clásica más vendido), Los Tres Tenores en Concierto 1994, Los Tres Tenores: París 1998, Los Tres Tenores en Navidad y Lo Mejor de Los Tres Tenores.
